These FAQs are here to help you find the information you need, when you need it, but you can always contact AskBU if you’d like to talk to someone in person, by phone or email, or if you have feedback about the FAQs.
If you're taking a break from your studies and are registered as 'interrupted', you are still exempt from paying Council Tax, as long as you are enrolled as a full-time student.
You can print out your own Council Tax exemption certificate from myHub; you will need to login and then select the certificate under 'My Documents'. No charge is made for your certificate. If your certificate does not display in myHub, please contact AskBU.
Please note that we are not able to provide a replacement Council Tax Exemption Certificate to students whilst they are interrupted, as we have no guarantee that you will return to study.
Important note: If for any reason you do not return to your studies you will become liable for the period that you were not studying, i.e. from the date that your interruption started.
