Can I receive extra funding if I have dependants?
Students can apply for Adult Dependants' Grants (ADG), Parent Learning Allowances (PLA) and Childcare Grants (CCG). Apply for your funding through Student Finance England to check the support available and your eligibility.
Students on NHS courses who started from September 2017 onward may also apply for the NHS Learning Support Fund. Part of this fund is a Child Dependants Allowance which can be claimed by all students who have child dependants under 15 (or under 17 if the child is registered with Special Educational Needs).
Students on the following courses are eligible for this fund:
- Midwifery
- Nursing (adult, child, mental health))
- Occupational therapy
- Operating department practice
- Physiotherapy
