FAQ 1437
Where can I find support for work or study abroad?

There are plenty of ways to have international experiences and gain intercultural competencies while you’re at BU. Including studying abroad at one of our partner universities for a semester or undertaking a placement or work experience overseas

You can find details of and how to apply for the fund on our study abroad webpage.

There’s also the opportunity to undertake extra-curricular activities such as short courses, volunteering, conferences or your own independent project.
Find out more about these on our Student opportunities abroad webpages.

If your overseas placement is part of your official BU placement year or sandwich placement, then it must be approved by your faculty's Placement Coordinator before you apply for funding.  If you are unsure who this is, please contact AskBU.

You could also benefit from BU Turing Scheme funding, which can help you cover some of the expense incurred by undertaking an overseas traineeship or work experience globally. It is available to all BU students and recent graduates undertaking overseas activities of between 4 weeks and 12 months. For information on funding, opportunities advertised by BU, eligibility criteria and how to apply, visit our Turing Scheme webpage.

Talk to a member of the Global Engagement Team, drop-in sessions are held online and in person twice weekly during term time - head to the Student opportunities abroad page for details.
