All BU and partner halls undergo thorough fire risk assessments that inform safety systems and procedures. These are reviewed and updated periodically by trained professionals.
All sites within the BU portfolio are also signed up to relevant housing management codes of practice and, with exception of Okeford House (which is monitored 24/7 remotely), are staffed on a 24 hour basis with fire safety information supplied to all residents and regular fire drills conducted to ensure residents are aware of the local evacuation procedure.
BU and its partners also meet periodically with the local fire brigade to ensure operational best practice is discussed and developed.
