FAQ 336
I have already studied an Undergraduate degree. Am I eligible for student finance to fund another?

Student Finance England (SFE) only fund your first Bachelor degree in most cases, even if your previous course was self-funded.  You may still be eligible for limited funding in certain circumstances and for some courses.  This might be the case if you had an exit award, i.e. you did not quite complete the previous Bachelor degree.

Previously study is disregarded entirely for specific healthcare courses, so full SFE funding is available for certain healthcare courses. At BU we offer some of these courses which are listed under the NHS Learning Support Fund section on the BU website.

Another exception with extra funding relates to part-time Bachelor courses classed by SFE and STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics). To check whether a particular part-time course would be funded we advise you contact SFE directly.

Funding eligibility criteria for a second Bachelor degree could be different if you are funded by Student Finance Wales, Student Finance Northern Ireland or Student Awards Agency Scotland.  Please contact them directly to receive funding advice for a second Bachelor degree.
