FAQ 2827
I am an international student with a Student visa and I need to travel

Student visa holders, as well as almost all BU students, are expected to engage with their studies according to the BU academic attendance and engagement policy. Attendance is monitored from the moment you enrol on to the course until you complete your course.

If your attendance and engagement drop and is no longer satisfactory, you will receive correspondence from the visa engagement team, and your Student visa could be affected.

As a rule, we do not actually approve any absence during term time, and we do not no issue ‘permission to travel’ letters, either.

However, please note that no BU or Home Office policy restricts travelling in and out of the UK if the Student visa is valid and has not been cancelled or varied in any way.

Still, students should plan their travels/absences for their official vacations when the attendance and engagement policy does not apply.
