As a research student your student ID card doubles as your print card which allows unlimited printing (within reason). You do not require a staff card. An intermittent fault means sometimes the printing does not work.
Smartcard Services has confirmed that if their card doesn’t work after registering on the printer they should go to Reception for assistance. If their access is incorrect, they should talk to their faculty.
